Google NFC payment service ‘Google Wallet’ officially launches today, the launch was promised by Google in the summer of 2011 and had previously been expected for 1st September 2011. The launch comes just days before the NFC World Congress and although Google isn’t an exhibitor, the main sponsor is MasterCard Google’s NFC mobile partner.
Unfortunately at this time the only NFC phone compatible with Google Wallet is the Nexus S 4G with Andriod. Google will be getting round this by offering a NFC sticker which can be placed on the back of a phone and when swiped or tapped at a NFC pay point it will communicate via the cloud with your Android mobile phone.
