NFC Payments With Any Smartphone

Until now, there hasnt been the option to use your mobile to make payments unless you have the inbuilt NFC chip. However there has been an exciting announcement by two mobile payment companies, DeviceFidelity and SpringCard, who confirmed today at CES that together they will be releasing a NFC payment solution called moneto. This will allow non NFC enabled phones to make mobile payments.

This works with the use of a NFC card in your microSD slot and a sticker that goes on the back of your battery to act as the aerial to improve signal. The system is available for Andriod & iPhone users or anyone with a microSD slot and when signing up you get Mastercard that can be used at ATMs, online or wherever contactless payments aren’t available.

Deepak Jain, DeviceFidelity President and CEO said “As this breakthrough mobile wallet launches in the US, it not only makes mobile payments available to iPhone users for the first time but it also opens the door for consumers to adopt NFC while pushing mobile commerce forward. We are excited to partner with MasterCard and SpringCard to break the barriers for a rapid effective rollout that will spur both consumers and merchants to adopt this new wave of electronic commerce.”

Watch this space as we hope to see moneto roll out and help take NFC to the next level.
