In the last week Nokia’s design chief Marko Ahtisaari hinted that versions of their WP 8 powered Lumia phones would incorporate NFC, as well as other interesting features such as a port-less design with wireless charging. Well now more information confirming the incorperation of NFC in to the Windows Phone operating system has surfaced after a video made by Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore, which was intended for Nokia, has been obtained and the information leaked.
The video confirms that Microsoft will have inbuilt support for NFC technology in both Windows Phone 8, codenamed ‘Apollo’, and also tablets and computers running the Windows 8 operating system – which will allow for mobile to computer communication. Microsoft also emphasized that it would allow the mobile carriers to brand the NFC mobile payments system themselves, rather than taking the direction Google has with Andriod and Google Wallet.
